Gastroenterology Services and Procedures

• Colonoscopy:

Colon Cancer, also referred to as colorectal cancer, starts in either your colon or rectum. It presents as Symptoms that include: changes in bowel habits (diarrhea/constipation), feeling that your bowels do not completely empty after a movement; blood-tinged stool; weakness/fatigue/tiredness; or unexplained weight loss. Our specialists perform colonoscopies in our Nationally Accredited Surgery Center. It’s recommended that people get a colonoscopy starting at age 45, or sooner, if they notice any of the above symptoms or have a family history of the disease. • Crohn’s Disease Treatment:

Crohn’s is a type of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) that results in inflammation of the digestive tract. It causes abdominal pain, severe diarrhea, fatigue, weight loss and malnutrition. WMSC Gastroenterologist, Dr. Allan Coates, DO, offers surgical treatment to help decrease inflammation and prevent flare ups.

• Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) Evaluation and Treatment:

Affecting around 10-15% of people globally according to The World Journal of Gastroenterology, IBS is associated with chronic symptoms such as bloating, gas, constipation or diarrhea. Our specialist can help rule out more serious conditions, through testing methods offered at WMSC, and help come up with strategies to calm your symptoms.
